Concept

This piece utilized a plotter printer to translate vector images into physical material. For the warp and distort piece, I wanted to create something that looked flowing, and almost fabric-like. I am drawn to the idea of a poetic machine, something so rigid and mechanical producing lines that look soft. The figural design is inspired by the works of Adam Fuhrer, who weilds density of line to produce form. I produced a rippling texture through the overlap of regular curved lines, and cropped it to the shape of a figure with the shapebuilder tool in Illustrator.
